DU: STABILIZING ANKLE BRACE

A veteran suffered grave injuries due to an IED explosion during his service: a third-degree separation of his left shoulder, fractures in both the ulna and radius of his right wrist, and a compound fracture of his left ankle. During his 10-day hospital stay, he discovered that one of the arteries supplying blood to his foot was irreparably damaged, leaving only one functioning artery for both his ankle and foot. His ankle plate was decimated, requiring the placement of six screws to ensure stability. Despite intense physical and occupational therapy, he faces a future with a pronounced limp and constant need for a cane.
