The Challenger is a retired Army veteran injured in a horseback riding accident that resulted in the loss of function of her legs. She enjoys spending time outside and when using vehicles, such as a tractor, requires transferring with a high-level seat. The transfers require a lot of effort or strength from the Challenger. Her strength may vary from day to day based on how many times she needs to transfer, as well as difficult weather conditions. The Challenge is to develop a mobility transfer system that lifts wheelchair users into vehicles that sit higher off the ground, like a tractor. The transfer device needs to be portable enough that it can be used at both departure and arrival and can be used independently to move to and from the tractor or other vehicles.
