What is a QL+ Challenge?

A QL+ challenge is a physical limitation or restriction, caused by injury or disability, that can be mitigated through the development of a new assistive device by the QL+ team. QL+ serves military veterans and other public servants who have sustained life-changing injuries in the line of duty.

QL+ welcomes challenges from individuals, family members, caregivers and the broader disabled community.

Once identified and accepted by QL+, a challenge is packaged as a QL+ project. Students and faculty at the QL+ Laboratory at California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly) in San Luis Obispo, use their specialized engineering expertise to create an innovative solution that solves the challenge. These innovations focus on solutions instead of commercial viability. They may serve just one person or they may serve many.
