QL+ Laboratory

The QL+ Laboratory at California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly) in San Luis Obispo, California, was founded in 2009 and is wholly funded by the QL+ organization. Located within the renowned College of Engineering, the QL+ Lab is the pilot research and development facility for all QL+-sponsored innovations.

The QL+ nonprofit organization and its multidisciplinary QL+ Lab were established by Cal Poly alumnus and former CIA Senior Executive, Jon Monett. Read more about the history of QL+.

At the QL+ Lab, students and faculty apply their creative and engineering skills to develop assistive devices and technologies to address the physical challenges faced daily by our nation’s heroes. The experience is beneficial for everyone involved:

  • Solving these challenges provides a key educational experience, allowing students from multiple engineering disciplines to work together on meaningful projects.
  • QL+ sponsorship offers exciting research opportunities for faculty members at Cal Poly’s College of Engineering.
  • Most importantly, injured patriots regain the ability to live, to work and to play.

The solutions developed at the QL+ Lab by students and faculty focus on delivering tangible results. These innovations serve a broader disabled population, a small subset, or even the specialized needs of a single individual.
