Introducing Quality of Life Plus

  • Do you want to help improve the quality of life of our nation's wounded heroes?
  • Are you or a loved one a military veteran or other public servant with a service-related injury that hampers your ability to live, work or play?
  • Are you ready to return to the workforce but concerned that your service-related injury may limit your opportunities?
  • Would a new assistive device allow you to again enjoy leisure activities such as fly fishing, running or snowboarding?

Quality of Life Plus (QL+) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization created to foster and generate innovations to aid and improve the quality of life for those injured in the line of duty.

We accept challenges from wounded active-duty and retired military veterans, members of the intelligence and law enforcement communities, and other public servants injured in the line of duty. These challenges become projects at our state-of-the-art QL+ Laboratory, located at California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly) in San Luis Obispo, California. By harnessing the exceptional creative and engineering skills of students and faculty at Cal Poly, QL+ succeeds in developing innovative solutions that help our nation’s heroes to live, to work and to play.

Learn more about us and how you can help wounded patriots overcome the challenges they face every day.

"The [QL+ Lab] promotes teamwork and creativity, but the real advantage for students and faculty is the ability to work on real problems and develop real solutions."

Our Work

What is a QL+ Challenge?

A QL+ Challenge is a physical limitation or restriction caused by injury or disability that can be mitigated through the development of a new assistive device by the QL+ team. QL+ serves military veterans, members of the law enforcement and intelligence communities, and other public servants injured in the line of duty.

The QL+ program welcomes challenges from individuals, family members, caregivers and the broader disabled community.
