QL+ Awarded Grant by IICF

ACTOR ROBERT DE NIRO & GENERAL RICHARD B. MYERS REPRESENT QL+ AT IICF 5^th ANNUAL BENEFIT DINNER

IICF selects QL+ as sole Veteran Service Organization grant recipient for 2011

MCLEAN, VA (December 15, 2011) – The Quality of Life Plus (QL+) Program was honored with a grant from the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF) at their prestigious 5^th Annual Benefit Dinner, held December 14, 2011, at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City, NY.

General Richard B. Myers, USAF (Ret.), Former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, accepted the honor on behalf of QL+. Actor Robert de Niro introduced a short video about the QL+ Program and its mission to engineer an improved quality of life for those injured in the line of duty. QL+ Founder and Chairman, Jon Monett, was also present.

“QL+ is a unique organization,” commented General Myers, “that represents the nexus of the needs of America’s wounded warriors and the knowledge of faculty and students at one of our nation’s pre-eminent Colleges of Engineering.”

The star-studded evening, emceed by WPIX TV reporter, Kirstin Cole, was attended by a host of insurance industry leaders, celebrities and other high-profile individuals, including special guest speaker, Katie Couric, and special guest presenters, actor, comedian and author, Dennis Leary, and NFL Great, Archie Manning.

IICF unites the collective strengths of the insurance industry to provide grants, volunteer service and leadership to nonprofit organizations nationwide. The grant from IICF, will help to underwrite project costs at the QL+ Laboratory, located at California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly) in San Luis Obispo, CA. Here, multidisciplinary teams of students work under the guidance of distinguished faculty members to research and develop innovative assistive technology to improve the quality of life of active-duty and Veteran members of the military, intelligence services, first responders and other public servants injured in service to America.
